Annual Information Statement (AIS) Check before filing return:

AIS also known as Annual Information Statement proposed to be replaced with 26AS has lot many details of your financial information including your employment history, Salary received, Interest from all your Savings Bank account, Dividend income received details with break-up, Full details of your Deposit interest received, Sale of listed equity share ( Very Important ) now one cannot forgot to add share transactions in the name of lack of details from your trading account provider.

Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS) is an information category wise aggregated information summary for a taxpayer. It shows processed value (i.e. value generated after deduplication of information based on pre-defined rules) and derived value (i.e. value derived after considering the taxpayer feedback and processed value) under each information category (e.g. Salaries, Interest, Dividend etc.). The derived information in TIS will be used for prefilling of return, if applicable. The functionalities under TIS Tab are:

  • View Taxpayer Information Summary
  • Download Taxpayer Information Summary (PDF/ JSON)

AIS data can also be accessed using the AIS Utility.

  • This utility can be downloaded through the ‘Utility’ tab under ‘Resources’ section.
  • Before installing the new version of AIS Utility on your system, please uninstall the previous version.

Where can we find this report ?

It is under Services tab of each tax payer’s Income Tax login.

If any of the tax professional filed return without looking into AIS it is advisable to download AIS and file revise return if additional details are found in AIS of the tax payer.
