Procedure to apply for New Ration Card through Online:
- Please send applicant name in full as SMS to 9212357123
- As soon as you SMS the applicant name, your mobile will receive a “ Entry /token number and a security code” instantly.
- Use this token number and the security code to open your online ration card application at the Photo Bio center in ( urban areas) or Gram Panchayath (in rural areas) in the presence of a valid Ration card holder as your introducer.
- Fill up all your required family information in the online application format without any errors.
- Upload your family members photographs and biometrics.
- It is mandatory to carry your recent electricity bill, a photo ID proof and address proof original documents to the photo center. All these three documents should be scanned and uploaded online at the photo center with out fail.
- It is also mandatory to introduce you as an applicant by any known valid ration card holder of your taluk .
- After the complete filling of your online application, get a “self declaration” downloaded and printed at the photo-bio center.
- Self declaration should be jointly signed by the applicant and the photo-bio center login person., scan this signed declaration and upload online .

APL card holders will also get cheaper rice :
Soon after taking over,Siddaramaiah had announced that 98.15 lakh below poverty line (BPL) families will get 30 kg of rice at Re 1 from June 1,in line with the partys manifesto.Now,this benefit will also extend to APL families.
Asked about the governments steps to rein in rice rates in the open market,the CM promised to control the price to ensure it doesnt become unaffordable to middle-class families.
Karnataka has 1.34 crore ration cards,and BPL cards account for 98.15 lakh (87.01 lakh BPL and 11.14 lakh Anthodaya Anna Yojana).The AAY covers the poor who cant afford two meals a day and includes the terminally ill,HIV affected,households headed by widows and landless labourers among the beneficiaries.
The Food Corporation of India provides 1.48 metric tonnes of rice every month to Karnataka.Of this,32,913 tonnes is distributed under AAY;57,616 tonnes for the BPL category and 57,663 tonnes for APL.With the increased quantity for BPL families,the state requires 3.31 lakh tonne every month.
Food and civil supplies minister Dinesh Gundurao said: A clear picture will emerge in a day or two.
