Common entrance test for MBBS And MD from next year:
The common National Eligibilitycum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to undergraduate (UG) will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) while the National Board of Examination will conduct the postgraduate (PG) exams.India is all set to roll out NEET in 2013-14.
The Union health ministry has informed states that their existing reservation policies would not be disturbed under the proposed scheme and state-wise eligibility merit lists will be prepared for the respective state authorities to admit students for admission in accordance with their admission criteria in the institutions located in the respective states.
The Medical Council of India has also revised the syllabus for NEET-UG.The qualifying criterion has been changed from percentage of absolute marks to percentile to ensure that no seat remains unfilled.
The ministry has also set up a coordination committee with all relevant stakeholders as members,which will address any issue relating to the admission process,including regional language as medium for conduct of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test.
