To get a new water supply and sanitary connection, the house owner was earlier required to approach BWSSB through a licensed plumber only and that was mandatory all these years. This often resulted in exploitation of the applicant. Hence BWSSB took up a series of consumer oriented measures in the organisation. The first among the steps taken is regarding the water connection. Now all the procedures are simplified and made very transparent while giving new water supply and sewerage connections.
House owner can directly approach BWSSB today with a sanctioned plan if it is a new house or with tax paid receipt for an old house and road cutting permission from BMP/BDA. However, those who are desirous of utilising the services of licensed plumbers may apply through plumbers also. Application forms are made available for Rs.30/- at all service stations, Cash counters, Sub-divisional offices and Divisional offices.
New application forms are simplified and those are self explanatory about all the particulars to be provided and the documents to be enclosed by the applicant.Application is made common for both water supply and sanitary connection. Sanction is given within 7 days after applying,in case of domestic connections by Assistant Executive Engineer of the Sub-division. In case of high rising buildings, sanction is accorded by a Committee from Chief Engineers Office, Cauvery Bhavan within 15 days from the date of application.
